Stamp duty & registration charges Telangana
Stamp duty & registration charges Telangana are mandatory state fees that total 6.0% in urban municipal areas (GHMC/HMDA) and 7.5% in rural village areas (Gram Panchayats), calculated on the actual sale price or the government guidance market value, whichever is higher. Under the Indian Stamp Act of 1899 and the Registration Act of 1908, paying these charges makes you the legal owner and gives you a court-accepted property title.
In Hyderabad and other urban areas, the total charge is 6%. This includes 4% stamp duty, 1.5% transfer duty, and a 0.5% registration fee. In rural areas, the charges are 5.5% stamp duty and 2% registration fee. These fees are collected by the Telangana Registration and Stamps Department through its online system. After registration, the property details are added to the official records. Buyers can also check the property record and obtain an Encumbrance Certificate (EC) when required.
